Mid-South Spay & Neuter Services
Mid-South Spay & Neuter Services is a non-profit clinic offering affordable spay and neuter surgeries to pet owners of Memphis as well as to those in the tri-state area. The goal of Mid-South Spay & Neuter Services is to reduce pet overpopulation by addressing the root of the problem. In addition to their standard low-cost procedures, they place a special emphasis on ensuring that all low-income and seniors citizens have the opportunity to use their services. To date, the clinic has performed over 22,000 spay or neuter procedures, which has potentially reduced the number of offspring that could have been produced by each unaltered animal and succeeding generations of litters.

An unspayed female dog, her mate and all of their puppies and their puppies’ puppies, if none are ever neutered or spayed, can add up to:

  • 1 year: 16 unwanted dogs
  • 2 years: 128 unwanted dogs
  • 3 years: 512 unwanted dogs
  • 4 years: 2,048 unwanted dogs
  • 5 years: 12,288 unwanted dogs
  • 6 years: 67,000 unwanted dogs

In six years (the length of time the clinic has been operating), one unspayed female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies while one unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce 66,088 kittens. Based on the 22,000 procedures performed by Mid-South Spay and Neuter Services in that time, potentially billions of unwanted animals have been kept from landing in shelters, being euthanized or living in miserable conditions as strays until death.

By supporting Mid-South Spay and Neuter Services, you can help proactively safe lives of animals in the Memphis community.
